Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity Certificate — mandatory for importers of pre-packaged goods. Without it, customs clearance is blocked.
Domestic manufacturers and packers of pre-packaged commodities must register with the Controller of Legal Metrology in their state.
Weights and measures instruments (weighing scales, flow meters, taximeters) must obtain model approval before manufacture or import.
Dealers of weights and measures instruments require a Form F dealer licence under respective State Legal Metrology Rules.
Repairers of weights and measures instruments require a Form H repairer licence from the State Legal Metrology Department.
